When Marty McFly cranked up the sleek, burnished stainless steel fusion-powered DeLorean DMC-12 sports car he traveled back in time and got his parents fall in love. That car became a large part of the movie series 'Back to the Future' made with star Michael J Fox as Marty and Christopher Lloyd as the mad scientist and time machine creator Dr Emmett Brown.
To make the trip back in time Marty had to get the car up to 88 MPH, or 141.6 KPH in Canada. Today we followed a time travelling DeLorean (with licence plate OUTATME) as he got on the highway and we waited for him to hit the magic number but we ended up disappointed - even though this model was equipped with the Mr Fusion Home Energy Reactor which replaced the earlier plutonium powered model.
It was really cool to see the famous car driving down the road.

Saturday May 21, 2011 Rapture - I meant 2021?
No Rapture yet and the day looks beautiful - I think someone slipped a bible decimal. Just in case I had showered with my 'Wash away your sins' cleansing bar, good for ALL 7 deadly sins. The only bad part is it has that 'Just-do-it again' scent and it is tempting, arrghh. I think I will live dangerously today so I suggest every one goes commando!
Maybe this guy was Raptured.

Raptured
Tomorrow (Saturday, May 21, 2011) is the one day when you should avoid carrying anything heavy – they say you have a high chance of rupture! Okay, bad joke, tomorrow is the ‘Judgment Day’ as predicted by some radio group. This date is not to be confused with their first date in 1994 because that date had a question mark and an alternate date was provided for in 2011. I don’t know about you but when I think of Judgment Day I think of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Terminator movies. And he is certainly being judged now by Maria Shriver for his long ago affair and child born to his former housekeeper.
The Day is supposed to begin with a worldwide earthquake followed by tea and cookies. The Rapture will begin (God’s elect people ascend to heaven) and finally the world will end on October 21, 2011. I found a funny ecard that said “May you someday have a job where you don’t hope end of the world predictions come true.”
People are joking that they will be leaving piles of empty clothes around the streets so people would think that the bodies have been called to heaven. Others are talking of adding helium to sex dolls to create a floating army of people rising in the sky, but many say that the helium will not be able to raise the dolls into the air.

Kensington Market Ghouls
During a recent visit to Toronto's Kensington Market area we came upon some weird ghouls hanging out in the window of one of the stores. They looked like a combination of skeletons and aliens just looking for someone to probe.
Kensington Market has a tradition of Car Free Sundays on the last Sunday of the month from May to October which is probably a good idea. The combination of narrow and one way streets with trucks making deliveries makes for a tight squeeze.
You can see one of their metal art signs and bike racks in the photo above. Like the name says Kensington Market is full of fruit and vegetable stores as well as some cool restaurants and clothing stores. It is a great destination for walking around and enjoying the flavour of the city. Then you can wander over to Little Italy or Chinatown which are both close by.

Zombie Lego Man
I love those zombies, those brain eating, greedy ghouls who shuffle along city streets (with proper permits and insurance) and entertain the multitudes who have grown to enjoy the annual Zombie walk. Blood and guts is always a good zombie costume but it is the unusual costumes that help to make the walk a great event.

It's Bizarre
It doesn't have to be out of the park to be bizarre. Sometimes it is a fine line between funny and just a little odd or peculiar. Toronto has a few strange things going on out there. You can help me find them - post your comments or send me an email about interesting or bizarre stuff.

A Buskerfest bubble machine in front of the Flatiron building
Sometimes art is bizarre. These characters are in a garden down at harbourfront.
A Pink Bikini-Tini (which I liked) - who comes up with these names? I tried to get the bartender to wear the pink bikini but no luck.
I saw posters with Nyla Stormy in all these newspaper boxes. While it was a little strange it was when I got close to the fab box and saw a little cartoon that things got funny. PS I think this could be the Nyla.
Ha Ha, cartoon wangs.
This picture has graffiti and poster leftovers. The amount of staples in this pole is amazing, it's like S&M for wood.
Ya know, as much as I loved the plastic moose campaign you have to admit they are weird.

Graffiti on the walls
Artists and gangs tag the walls wherever they have even the slightest access. Cans of spray paint litter the alley, leftover from a day of painting. The artists get mad when taggers wreck their work.
Someone adds a graphic symbol to the graffiti mural.
Most of the graffiti is stylized words and letters, a vomit of colours and easily forgettable. Along railway tracks and in long alleyways the words tell a story that is hard to decipher.
Sometimes graffiti is simple and shares a message.
And sometimes it is cute.
