A big shout out to my photography fans from Portland, Maine at Portland Magazine Monthly. The award winning magazine is in the heart of America's 41st populated state and they have asked me to submit some pictures of the Toronto Zombie March. We shall see if my photos appear in this fine printed magazine.

They have Zombie Kickball in Portland. Darn Zombies have no brains playing kickball - they could get a concussion and die.

I love those zombies, those brain eating, greedy ghouls who shuffle along city streets (with proper permits and insurance) and entertain the multitudes who have grown to enjoy the annual Zombie walk. Blood and guts is always a good zombie costume but it is the unusual costumes that help to make the walk a great event.

Happy Halloween - trick or treat

It's Halloween and the scary snow started falling today and most of the leaves have fallen from the trees. Oooooooooohhhhhh, damn snow. Happy Halloween everyone.

Here is one more scary Bay Street Banker zombie to scare the heck out of you.

All Hallows Eve is this Sunday and the little ghouls and goblins will be going door to door for treats. Here are some more zombies to help scare you to death in honour of the night. And the pictures are extra large so they are extra scary - except for the superhero.

2010 Toronto Zombie Walk

The 2010 Zombie Walk returns to the streets of Toronto, starting at Trinity Bellwoods Park at 3pm and winding it's way along various roads until it hits Christie Pits. Hide your brains and bring out the blood. I asked Thea Munster (pictured below) if she had gotten married yet - you may remember that she got engaged during last years Zombie Walk, and she said that she has been too busy to get married so far this year.

People were having fun gathering in the bowl in Trinity Bellwoods Park. Some of the outfits, costumes and makeup were out of this world. Use of special contacts has been increasing at every event that we attend.

After milling around and everyone taking lots of photos of the zombies they gathered around the stage for a few contests including best scream, best zombie walk and best costume. Then a little after three the zombie crowd headed out to Dundas and there route which ended at Christie Pits. They did do a little diversion to their planned route, heading up Bathurst instead of Borden, but the zombies and the crowds of people had great fun watching the bloody spectacle. This was another successful Zombie Walk and it was great fun to watch and take pictures of everyone.

After the park the streets of Toronto were over run with the many varieties of zombies, guided by the Toronto Police and the UMBRELLA Corporation keeping all the brain dead zombies alive, I mean, safely dead.

Zombie Walk - Special Director's Cut Edition

As part of the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) Thea Munster (below) brought together a special zombie walk in honour of Director George A. Romero and his Midnight Madness Premier of SURVIVAL OF THE DEAD at 11:59pm.

PS Thea Munster (pictured below) became engaged to Adam Pearson when he asked her to marry him during the beginning of the 2009 Toronto Zombie Walk!







The undead gathered at Alexandra Park and lurched towards Yonge-Dundas Square, dripping blood all the way. At the TIFF screen in the square George came on stage and talked to the zombies saying he doesn't know why people keep getting dressed up as zombies.

Don't forget the upcoming annual Toronto Zombie Walk scheduled for October 24 - which usually starts at Trinity Bellwoods Park (the actual location is yet to be announced).

The Dead shall rise again and again

Dammit Jim, I don't care how many times they rise, I'm a doctor not a zombie slayer. Theas Munster reminds us that there will be two Zombie Walks this year. The zombies above were from the 2009 Fan Expo. You can check out the horror from some of the past shows here.

Romero’s Survival of the Dead in the Midnight Madness selection of the Toronto International Film Festival. Aside from paying a fitting tribute to George Romero on the event of his newest film, we will also be celebrating Romero’s recent status as a bona fide Canadian citizen and Toronto resident!

Partake in the walk, then be present for an appearance by George A. Romero and a screening of Night of the Living Dead at Dundas Square!

Toronto Zombie Walk 2008

The undead walked the streets of Toronto on Sunday October 19, 2008 screaming hungrily for brains and we were on hand to watch the mayhem unfold. By 3pm many zombies started gathering in the hollow pit in the middle of Trinity Bellwood Park but where only zombies had been last year, this year we were also treated to the spectacle of Skull Man's cardboard box warriors - which was pretty unusual, but really fun to watch. See some more great shots of the terrifying zombies below on my Youtube slideshow movie.



About 20 warriors dressed in elaborate cardboard suits of armour carried large swords and hammers made of cardboard. They split into two teams and after milling about for awhile finally worked up the courage to attack each other. They fought to remove the top "armour" and the last one was the winner. I am not to sure who won, but I liked the teddy bear warrior! See some Youtube videos of the battle here and here.






The 2008 Toronto Zombie Walk was underway! Many people worked hard to look and feel the part of a crazed zombie and the effects were terrific. Hundreds gathered in the pit and finally were able to crawl out the steep sides to head down to Queen Street and continue to Bathurst and finally up to Bloor Street. Crowds of people along the street wondered where all the blood was coming from and TTC streetcars pulled alongside the brain hunting bad guys thinking that Toronto has finally gone to hell.

















The end of the walk was the Bloor Cinema and the After Dark Film Festival. One of the movies premiering at the festival was a zombie curling movie called DEADSPIEL.
